Electrolux’s quest: to collect the debris from plastic islands in the ocean and turn them into a line of 6 vacuum cleaners, each representing one of the following bodies of water: the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, and the North Sea. The chassis are visually quite nice, and though this isn’t currently worked out for high volume production, but, according to Electrolux, the “quality and logistics needed for cleaning and sorting ocean plastic makes it difficult to use in mass production.” For now, they are planning to auction off one of the vacuum cleaners, using the revenue for continued research into the initiative.source
